Since 2015 a specialised department, namely the Liebherr Maritime Service Factory, has been dealing exclusively with refurbishment projects. The latest overhauling project was a mobile harbour crane type LHM 180 build in 2008. After finishing the overhaul, the mobile harbour crane was bought by Petrokemija d.o.o. in Croatia. It was transported by road, assembled and put back into service by the middle of March 2017. The LHM 180 has a maximum outreach of 35 metres and a maximum capacity of 35 tonnes (grab operation) and is now used for bulk and general cargo handling in the port of Sibenik/ Croatia. https://www.liebherr.com/en/deu/products/maritime-cranes/maritime-cranes.html

Part 2 of our journey between Germany and Italy by train. A day train from Zagreb to Split in Croatia. We used the excellent information on the Man at Seat Sixty One website when we planned the trip. The tickets cost €32 Euro each (£27 GBP) The trip was scheduled to take six and a half hours but it ended up about 90 minutes late. When we got on the train at Zagreb the conductor tried to explain that we would have to alight in the mountains and use a bus service between station as there were track works further down the line (the message was lost in translation but we soon found out what she meant!). The bus took about 60 minutes and then we boarded another train for the final part of the journey to Split.

(Please read the story below.) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/XLProjectsNetwork Website: http://www.XLProjects.net Twitter: https://twitter.com/XLPNetwork XLP member Dealex Transport LLC successfully carried Tukan slewing cranes, 400 metric tons each, from Split, Croatia, to Yuzhny, Ukraine. From the beginning, the project seemed very complex. There was a shallow port of loading. The budget was very tight. The shipyard where the cranes were manufactured had no experience in preparations for loading of such cargoes. High center of gravity of the cargo units created stability problems during work of the vessel’s cranes. The nature of the quay and the basin did not permit roll on – roll off loading. Nevertheless, a solution was found and the cranes were successfully loaded, carried ...

Just as I arrived to my home town (Duga Resa) by train, I took my camera out and started making a recording of the situation. 50 cm of snow, my passenger train with electric haul, another delayed passenger train with diesel helping out a dead electric and a new Croatian (Končar) EMU right behind it.
